One Mile Run/Walk Test
Walk Test (ages 13 or greater)
- Body Composition
Percent Body Fat
Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Muscular Strength, Endurance, and Flexibility
Abdominal strength and endurance (curl-up)
Trunk extensor strength and endurance (trunk lift)
Upper body strength and endurance (choose from push-up, modified pull-up, and flexed arm hang)
Flexibility (choose from back-saver sit-and-reach and shoulder stretch)
Modifications Checklist for FitnessGram - This document provides appropriate modifications for all test items. General Physical Educators are encouraged to utilize this checklist when providing modifications for students with special needs.

Evaluation Tools
There are various evaluation tools that can be used to determine the most appropriate physical education program for students with special needs in the least restrictive environment. In Pitt County, common evaluation tools include the Special Olympics Motor Skill Assessment, Modified Motor Skills Inventory, and the Adapted Physical Education Assessment Scale-II (APEASII).
